March 25th is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Day. About 1 in 323 children in the United States have cerebral palsy. Read about one family's experience with cerebral palsy and CDC's work on this condition.

The purpose of this study was to use the Community Readiness Model to assess readiness for adopting a physical activity program for people with arthritis in 8 counties in West Virginia.

CDC began an ongoing collaboration with the Ministry of Health (MoH) of Burkina Faso in 1991 to provide guidance for polio eradication. This cooperation has since expanded to include other important health issues.

Since 1998, CDC has partnered in Vietnam with the government and local and international organizations to build quality sustainable health systems, providing long-term public health impact and protecting the health of Vietnamese and Americans at home and abroad.

CDC began working in Lao PDR in 2006. In 2010, the National Center for Laboratory and Epidemiology (NCLE) was designated as a National Influenza Center (NIC) by the World Health Organization (WHO). Over the past 10 years, Lao PDR has continued to develop and improve their capacity building beyond influenza in support of the International Health Regulations. There has been a significant strengthening of engagement to include technical assistance in HIV/AIDS prevention and control and expanded maternal and child health immunization coverage

CDC partners in South Africa with government and parastatal agencies, private institutions, universities and non-governmental organizations to improve the country’s public health foundation, to prevent transmission of HIV, to provide care and treatment for those who are already infected with HIV, and to strengthen laboratory capacity.
