Para los cirujanos, extirpar un tumor es un acto de equilibrismo. Si se corta demasiado, se corre el riesgo de extirpar tejidos sanos que cumplen funciones importantes. Si se extirpa demasiado poco, se pueden dejar células cancerosas que, con el tiempo, podrían volver a crecer y convertirse en tumor.
